Finance and Operations Manager

A successful and fast-growing FMCG business, part of an international group, is seeking a Finance and Operations Manager to play a key role in financial management and operational improvement. Reporting to the UK General Manager and Group HQ overseas, this role offers genuine scope to influence and improve business performance in a small, friendly team environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Ownership of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
• Oversee audits, VAT, PAYE, and HMRC compliance
• Manage and develop a small finance team
• Maintain and improve financial systems (Sage 200)
• Support HR, stock control, insurance, and operational efficiency
• Lead process improvement initiatives across finance and operations

 

The Ideal Candidate:

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) – Qualified by experience also considered.
• Experience in FMCG or a fast-paced commercial environment
• Strong Excel and Sage 200 skills; payroll experience an advantage
• Hands-on, commercially aware, and analytical
• Strong communication, leadership, and process-improvement skills
• Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK and abroad

 

Location: Basildon
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
