Meet the team

  • James Swift

    James Swift Director

    James and Chris have been friends and work colleagues for over 20 years and co-founded StormX in 2017 with the view of bringing together their 30 years of combined specialist experience and personality to the market.

    Having had no real career path mapped out before leaving school, James decided to work and then subsequently ‘find himself’ whilst travelling across South East Asia and Australia. When he returned, he fell (pushed by his mum and dad) into working for a large recruiter in 2004 and since then has never looked back!

    In his career of getting on for 20 years, James has had the opportunity to recruit for every type and size of commercial, not for profit and public practice business, from entry level to executive Finance Director & CFO, as well as learning every recruitment life lesson along the way.

    James’ personal aim with StormX is to offer clients & candidates an experience of working with a friendly, highly professional and motivated Recruiter who has a vast knowledge of the market and industry; helping to guide you whether you’re looking for a new career move or for quality talent in an efficient and cost effective manner.

    When he's not in the office James enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends and watching Spurs (when they are winning!)

  • Chris Truman

    Chris Truman Director

    Chris is a down to earth, highly professional recruiter of more than twenty years’ experience (as demonstrated by the hairline). Having operated in both Blue-Chip and SME/scale-up environments, as the Co-Founder of StormX his network of clients, candidates and business contacts is known across the South East as market leading.

    A true consultant and business advisor, Chris specialises in the recruitment of Human Resources professionals across all levels and is also passionate about the provision of more holistic talent management solutions for his clients; adding great commercial value and building exceptional relationships, with those who haven’t typically used ‘traditional’ recruitment consultancies historically, alongside those who have.

    When not in the office, Chris is a family man with two young daughters (another reason for the hairline) and loves nothing more than hacking round a golf course or screaming on the mighty Redmen on the pitch.

  • Richard Gates

    Richard Gates Director

    Richard is a highly experienced recruiter, known for building strong long term relationships with both clients and candidates over a 17-year period in the industry.

    Predominantly experienced in the Accountancy and Finance market, recruiting successfully across all levels of seniority throughout Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

    When he’s not recruiting, Richard is a keen golfer trying desperately to improve the standard of his Co-Directors at StormX (without success currently). He is also a huge family man, having recently got married and with two boys, Jacob and Finley who keep him busy with lots of sporting activities and the odd lazy day watching a film.

  • Natalie Findlay

    Natalie Findlay Operations & HR Manager

    Natalie is a highly experienced HR professional with over 20 years experience across various industries. Natalie turned to the “dark side", joining StormX in 2022 when deciding that a return to HR following the birth of her son, Henry, was not what motivated her.

    Now she predominately recruits for HR and Talent professionals as well as ensuring all HR and business operations run smoothly within the business (basically keeping everyone in check!). She is also available to support small businesses on any HR matters, as an extension to our offering to established partner clients.

    When she’s not working, Natalie loves spending time with her family and going on long walks with her Chocolate Labrador, Stanley.

  • Ryan Osborne

    Ryan Osborne Recruitment Consultant

    Ryan joined StormX in September 2022 and is in his first role within the Recruitment industry. Very quickly off the mark, Ryan is sourcing top talent for a wider range of business vacancies, without losing the market leading StormX attention to detail and service oriented approach, that others in his sector cannot (or will not) provide.

    Specialising in general Office Support vacancies, (Customer Services, Marketing, Administrative/Secretarial, Sales & Procurement), Ryan’s background in Customer Services has helped him to develop relationships with businesses and candidates alike, through both practical experience and his friendly, logical style. Whilst continuing to build his knowledge of the market, he can often be found offering various ramblings on LinkedIn.

    Outside of work, Ryan enjoys playing football (badly), watching Spurs and is trying to learn how to play golf (which is a far more a work in progress than his Recruiting)!
