What do you want to get out of an interview?

One of the biggest mistakes people can make going into an interview is thinking that it’s all about impressing the interviewer.

❌ WRONG ❌

It’s important to take a step back sometimes and actually think about what you want to get out of this situation.

What does company X need to offer/give you to make it somewhere that you’d like to work?

Whether it’s flexibility, the benefits on offer, long-term progression opportunities or a combination of everything.

The easiest way to do this is through asking the right questions.

It sounds simple (and generally is) but asking stuff that’s important to you in an interview can help show if the role ticks enough of your boxes.

It has the added benefit of showing the interviewer that you’re engaged and interested too!!

My favourite is always ‘what’s the biggest challenge in the role?’

This can help give you an idea of what you’ll be walking into.

As well as allowing for an example of how you might have dealt with whatever the challenge is in the past!
