Job seekers don’t forget this very important detail before starting to apply on a job platform….

When making the big decision to move jobs, the majority of time is spent on the CV.

Countless hours going through details of dates, job responsibilities and spelling and grammar checks before applying to a single job.

But the part that a lot of people spend the least amount of time on is the profile on their chosen job platform.

Whether it be Reed, Total Jobs, CV library or Indeed everything you put on the profile is searchable.

Last week I lost count with the number of people who didn’t have a salary band or location or even a preferable job title.

You applying for a job is one part of the search.

Being able to found by a Recruiter or Talent acquisition expert is another route and can definitely be more successful as not every job is advertised.

Key things to ensure that are constantly updated:

💡 Current & preferred Job title – Simplify your job title and make it mainstream…Ie ‘Specialist Processing and Payments officer’ change to Purchase Ledger Clerk

💡 Salary (make the bandings wider)

💡 Locations (Don’t be to specific on an exact location)

💡 Driving licence & access to a car

💡 Notice period (ensure this is updated given your situation

💡 Make sure your contact details are updated (you would be staggered how many people don’t check this!)

These are such small changes but can have such big impacts in your job search.
