How do your Teams/Zoom interviews make people feel?
5 years down from Covid and its absolutely unquestionable that interview planning is far easier these days,
The ability to jump into online interviewing (particularly for first stage), has been a gamechanger that’s largely been super positive for the talent world.
**Although it still p!sses me off a little bit – we started doing it way before Covid (on inception 8+ years ago), and it used to be a handy differentiator and in part, a shame the world caught up… 🤣 **
HOWEVER….
You do have things to consider with Online meets that are less of a problem in person.
– Can you give enough of a snapshot of your culture to entice someone without them ‘feeling/seeing/experiencing’ it?
– Are your interviewers/line managers as confident in their delivery online as they are in person (this is a massive problem for many)?
– How do you tackle the awkwardness when there are 2 line managers needed in an interview, but sitting in different places – this can feel super clunky to all parties, affecting interview flow?
We’re in an interesting world right now;
Client perception that there are loads of people looking for jobs and they’ll find their unicorn easily – WRONG.
Candidates who have never been more aware of the way an interview/onboarding process makes them feel, and making decisions on that, even though they desperately need to pay the bills – TAKE NOTE BUSINESSES.
Does your process need a spring clean? Could you up your game with some fresh ideas?
Talk to me, I’m way more than just your stereotypical Recruiter?
