Health & Safety Manager

The role will be primarily based at our Stevenage head office (approximately 70% office-based), with regular travel to sites (around 30%) to ensure compliance with regulations, conduct audits, and provide hands-on support to site teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and systems in line with current legislation and industry best practice.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring full compliance with HSE and CDM regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports with recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update health and safety documentation, including RAMS, COSHH assessments, and training records.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and training sessions to operatives and site staff.
  • Liaise with external bodies (e.g. HSE, local authorities) and act as the company’s competent health and safety person.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics and maintain continuous improvement across health and safety practices.
  • Support project managers and directors in delivering safe and compliant construction and roofing operation
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum).
  • TechIOSH membership (or working towards).
  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within the construction/roofing industry. • Strong knowledge of regulations, and construction site operations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

Location: Stevenage
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
