Interview tip 💡
Most interviews will end with the question …
“Do you have any questions for us?” from the hiring manager or HR.
Sound familiar?
I’ve seen it so many times over the years in my HR roles where candidates would ask questions about the salary, benefits, sick pay, holiday entitlement etc.
I know these are important to you but believe me it’s not what the interviewer wants to hear.
These sorts of questions can come further down the line. The interviewer / hiring manager wants to see that you really want the job, you want to work for the company.
I can’t stress enough about being prepared before you go into that interview, its a 2 way process so it’s also about you learning as much as you can about the role and the company before you can make an informed decision if it’s for you or not.
Also, there is nothing worse than when you ask the candidate if they have any questions and the answer is no. It doesn’t show the interviewer that you are engaged or interested in the role.
Some examples that could help you with these questions:
🙂 What is the company culture like? How would you describe it?
🙂 What does the current team structure look like? Where will this role fit?
🙂 Can you describe a typical day or week in the job?
🙂 What are some of the challenges you expect the person in this position to face?
🙂 What does progression look like in this role?
🙂 Why do you enjoy working for the company?
