The best thing you can do after a 1st stage interview is…….
No….it’s not pour a glass of wine, although that might be the next best,
**Get out of the meeting or off the remote/telephone call and……**
IMMEDIATELY make some new notes.
With most interview processes taking more than one stage in (with varying degrees of time between stages), the information that you’ve just gained could be vital.
Rather than committing it to memory, make more notes to help you prep for the 2nd stage.
– What have you learned?
– What challenges have you heard about within the business/role?
– What values have you discussed that you align to best?
– What is the name of the interviewer’s cat?
Anything….and everything.
Showing you retain information well at 2nd stage doesn’t rely on your memory, this simple process can help you.
It also then allows you to think about developing better, more relevant examples from your own background, aligned values, personal interests etc, at 2nd stage.
Very simple, but very effective. Don’t leave these things to memory.
